Volunteers aged 17+ are required to provide appropriate and relevant up to date information to visitors in the Information Centre at UHW and various sites within Cardiff and Vale UHB. This will be undertaken by the volunteer being able to sign post individual to the information required, you will spend time in general conversation and listening to their needs and information requirements. It is important that volunteers show empathy and are sensitive to the visitors needs. You will also support the development of the Macmillan Information Centre and will help and support service providers in the Centre to identify or find specific information material that meets their information needs, or be abel to sign post to the appropriate service/s. You will also replenish the Centre's display stands with booklets, leaflets etca and at other relevant sites within Cardiff and Vale UHB. You would also take telephone referral/enquiries and relay telephne messges and note all contacts with visitors by completing the daily contacts sheet for each visitor.As the Centre develops, you will be requested to support the Information Facilitator within the local community, e.g., in support groups or wellbeing groups. The minimum time commitment is 4 hours per week, negotiable with the organisation. Full training is provided and out of pocket expenses are re-imbursed. An informal discussion, references and a disclosure and barring check will be required.

Is this role flexible?

Min hours expected per week: 4 hours

Min period of commitment: 6 months

Requirements: General IT skills, websites, spreadsheet and some knowledge of Macmillan Cancer support. Good communication skills

Support offered:

Volunteers will be carrying out the activities:

/ With paid staff/ With other volunteers

Training provided: Macmillan and volunteers Induction as well as Corporate Induction.
