Tenovus Cancer Care works at the heart of the community, helping those affected by cancer. Our shops are crucial to us raising vital funds and we’d love you to volunteer your time and commitment to help us make a difference. There are a number of roles available in each shop, including: Customer Service Assistant – Welcoming people into the shop, serving customers at the till and accepting donations from the public. Lead Retail Assistant – Assisting the Shop Manager with the day-to-day running of the shop, demonstrating effective and positive leadership in the Shop Manager’s absence. Shop Fundraising Assistant – Organising shop based fundraising events and activities in order to raise vital funds for our Research and Cancer Support Services. Stock Preparation Assistant – Sorting, preparing and pricing donations ready for sale. Visual Merchandising Assistant – Ensuring high standards of presentation in our windows and on the shop floor.

Is this role flexible? If you can give a little of your time to help in our shops, we’d love to hear from you! Ideally you'll be able to give around half a day on a weekend, if you can with the possibility to do more if you’d like to. However we appreciate any time you’d like to give; please let us know your availability on your application form. All we ask is that you try and give the same hours each week and that you let us know as soon as you can if you’re not able to make it. This’ll help us to plan our week!

Requirements: Depending on the role you’d like to help with: *Excellent customer service skills *Excellent communication skills both face to face and over the telephone dealing with a range of people *Organised and efficient at completing tasks *Basic numeracy skills *Creativity *Some knowledge of fashion, labels and trends *A keen eye for detail and good level of accuracy *An enthusiasm for the work of Tenovus Cancer Care *Reliability and enjoy helping as part of a team *Strong team working skills as well as the ability to work on your own initiative *Adaptable to helping in a variety of environments *Ability to prioritise tasks, work on own initiative and as part of a team *Responsible and honest *Be adaptable, flexible and able to work well under pressure *Friendly and outgoing personality *Creative and enjoy working on projects *Good networking skills *Experience of managing people in a retail setting *Previous fundraising or sales skills would be useful but not essential *Previous retail skills would be an advantage but not essential.

Training provided: *Before starting with Tenovus Cancer Care, we ask that you do try a small number of hours in the shop so we can both see how the role may suit you. The amount of hours can be decided between you and the Shop Manager. *Following that the Shop Manager and team will be on hand to run you through the basics of helping in a shop in your first few days and they will always be on hand to help. Becoming a volunteer with Tenovus Cancer Care can be a rewarding experience and is certainly invaluable to the charity and its goals. *A full volunteer induction will be provided, which will give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your role.
