Ambulance Car Service Drivers (ACS) are volunteers who use their own vehicles to help with the transportation of patients to and from hospitals and clinics, thereby leaving ambulances free for emergencies and for patients too ill to travel by car. Volunteers are not paid for their time, however they do receive out of pocket expenses for their mileage. The current rate for mileage is 39p/mile. The basic criteria you need to be considered as a volunteer driver are: Physically and mentally fit, in accordance with fitness criteria Should possess and full driving licence (details to be considered on application) Be of good character and provide 2 references Be contactable by mobile phone and preferably possess an email account or fax Possess a suitable 4 door vehicle Undergo an Enhanced CRB Check Have a mature and caring demeanour Have good communication skills
