Volunteer Befriender Role Description There are many factors contributing to social isolation – age, disability, even rural isolation. Our Telephone Befriending Service aims to reduce the feelings of loneliness and isolation that can be experienced by people living with macular disease. You may also need to signpost people on to additional sources of support if appropriate. People wishing to access this service will register their interest via our Helpline. You will be given the opportunity to attend a one day training course to provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills to undertake this particular role.
