]Children and Families, Community Work, Advice Work and Counselling, Befriending, Mental Health, Prisoners and Ex-Offenders

To work alongside Pact Family Support staff to deliver a range of support and intervention services to prisoners and their families, both inside and outside the prison setting KEY TASKS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. To provide practical and emotional support to prisoners and their families 2. Working with a partner, arrange regular contact with allocated families to help them access a range of support services, such as financial advice, housing and employment advice 3. To record all contacts and interventions and disseminate to the designated Family Engagement Worker. 4. Working as part of the team, develop good links with external referral services 5. To undertake training as required 6. To be aware of and adhere to policy and practice guidelines/instructions on: • Confidentiality • Health & Safety • Child Protection • Equal Opportunities • Prison Security

Is this role flexible? yes, mentors set up mutually convenient meetings with service users

Min hours expected per week: 3 hours

Min period of commitment: 6 months

Requirements: Only to be empathetic and non judgemental although background in criminal justice or counselling is helpful

Support offered:

/ Induction/ One to one supervision/ Peer support

Volunteers will be carrying out the activities:

/ Alone/ With paid staff/ With other volunteers

Additional support needs: help with application process

Training provided: Security, Induction, Safeguarding, Mentoring and Professional Boundaries

Age requirements: 18+

Selection details: NOMS vetting (takes up to 6 weeks)
