]Children and Families, Befriending, Mental Health, Prisoners and Ex-Offenders

To work alongside Pact Family Support staff to deliver a range of support and intervention services to prisoners and their families, both inside and outside the prison setting KEY TASKS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. In conjunction with FEWs provide practical and emotional support to prisoners and their families 2. In conjunction with FEWs make referrals and signpost families to outside agencies where appropriate 3. To support with Family Days, including facilitating activities such as arts and crafts, helping set up, assisting and engaging with families 4. To support with delivery of courses and projects such as assisting with group activities, helping with children’s literacy activities and the Story Book Dads project 5. To undertake training as required 6. To be aware of and adhere to policy and practice guidelines/instructions on: • Confidentiality • Health & Safety • Child Protection • Equal Opportunities • Prison Security

Min hours expected per week: 3 hours

Min period of commitment: 6 months

Requirements: Only to be empathetic and non-judgemental, but criminal justice background is an advantage

Support offered:

/ Induction/ One to one supervision/ Peer support

Volunteers will be carrying out the activities:

/ Alone/ With paid staff/ With other volunteers

Additional support needs: help with application process

Training provided: Security, Safeguarding, Induction, Play

Age requirements: 18+

Selection details: NOMS vetting (takes up to 6 weeks)
