The museum houses hundreds of artefacts donated to them by members of the community. We are looking for volunteers with an ambition for handling artefacts to become a member of our Collections team. The individual will be responsible for completing written and computer records, handling artefacts safely and properly, checking the condition of the artefacts for future cleaning and conservation. Other jobs will include rotating the collection as appropriate and creating new exhibits. The South Wales Miners' Museum was first opened in 1976 and was reopened again in 2008. Made up of both indoor and outdoor exhibits, the museum is volunteer and committee run and has gone on to achieve many prestigious awards, including the Prince of Wales. The museums mission is to educate the public on the South Wales Coalfield through its educational resources and exhibits.
