Disability and Health:
What do we need?
Volunteers to help organise and run Hear to Meet social groups for people (50+) who are losing their hearing
Teaching and Training:
We require an outgoing individual with knowledge and experience of IT and/or teaching to assist in providing various training and courses for those in need of gaining skills and qualification within the local community of Abergele/Pensarn
Disability and Health:
The wheelchair is just the start
What are the costs to the organisation?
Volunteers are not paid but neither are they cost-free. Staff/management time needs to be dedicated to recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers.
Many of the policies and procedures that you have in place as an organisation will need to be reviewed and adapted for volunteers. Recruiting volunteers, for example, is a different process from the recruitment of staff.
It is helpful if you are able to pay volunteers’ out of pocket expenses, although this is not always possible. You will want as an organisation to be able to show your appreciation to volunteers, for example by organising special events or by including them in staff days.
