The Home from Hospital project depends largely on its team of willing volunteers to go out into their community visiting those referred to the scheme. To the service users, a friendly face, someone with the time to chat and spend some time with them is the key to a successful recovery and regaining of their independence - most importantly of all, in the comfort of their own home. Duties include: chatting, providing companionship and building confidence; shopping for a few essential items and perhaps collecting prescription; signposting to any other relevant services; assisting with preparation of light refreshments and drinking tea or coffee.
